The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network owns and operates this website, located at http://www.aidslex.org. This Disclaimer states the terms and conditions under which you may use the website as a registered user. By registering, you are indicating your acceptance to be bound by these terms of use. Violating the terms of use may result in your registration being revoked.
Privacy
Because AIDSLEX gathers certain types of information about our users, we want to help you understand the terms and conditions surrounding the collection and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses the types of information we gather, how we use it and how to correct or change it.
You can access much of the AIDSLEX website without giving us any information about yourself. Certain functions, however, are open only to those who register. Registration is free. If you choose to register, we require the personal information that you provide to us during registration. Once you register as a user, you are no longer anonymous to us.
If you register with AIDSLEX, you have accepted the following terms in relation to any information about yourself that you choose to submit to the website or send to us by any other method. If you do not agree to these terms, you are welcome to continue using AIDSLEX without registering.
When you join AIDSLEX as a registered user, we collect personal information such as your name, e-mail address, organization with which you are affiliated and other details that you provide to us that identifies you as an individual. We will only collect this kind of personal information with your consent.
Your internet browser has a feature called cookies, which stores small amounts of data on your computer about your visit to AIDSLEX. You do not need to have cookies turned on to visit AIDSLEX. Cookies alone tell us nothing about who you are unless you specifically give us personally identifiable information, in which case we use the information to enhance your services in the ways described below. If you are a registered user of AIDSLEX, when you are logged into the site we use a cookie to:
• save your password so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit AIDSLEX, and
• keep track of return visits to AIDSLEX, length of visits and most popular pages, which helps us improve the site over time.
We do not give out information about registered users to other organizations. Any identifying information about you will only be shared with others using AIDSLEX if you post it yourself on the site or authorize us to post it (e.g., by listing yourself in the AIDSLEX People Connector or requesting that we list you).
Registration
To use certain features of AIDSLEX, you will be asked to register. By registering, you agree (i) to provide accurate information about yourself and (ii) to update promptly the information you provide to keep it accurate. If we have reasonable grounds to believe that such information is inaccurate, we have the right to suspend or terminate your access to and use of the website (or any portion thereof). Termination
AIDSLEX may at any time, without notice, in its sole discretion and without cause, terminate your right to access or use the website (or any portion thereof). AIDSLEX may also terminate your right to access and use the website, or any part of it, if you breach any of the terms of use.
Trademarks
The “AIDSLEX” and “AIDS and Law Exchange” names and logo, as they appear on the website, are trademarks of the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network. Other names, words, titles, phrases, logos, designs, graphics, icons and trademarks displayed on the website may constitute registered or unregistered trademarks of the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network or other parties. Nothing contained on AIDSLEX should be construed as granting you any licence or right to use any trademark logo or design of AIDSLEX or any other party, without the written permission of the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network or the respective owner of the trademark. We encourage the reproduction of the “AIDSLEX” and “AIDS and Law Exchange” names and logo in other materials or on other websites for the purpose of drawing readers’ or users’ attention to the AIDSLEX resource, including creating a link on a website to the AIDSLEX home page (www.aidslex.org). Passwords
To use certain features of the website, you will need a username and password, which you will receive through the registration process. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the username and password, and are responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account (e.g., uploading of documents, postings in Discussions, etc.). You agree to notify AIDSLEX immediately (details below) of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and to ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. AIDSLEX cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the website’s failure or your failure to protect your password or account information.
Governing law and jurisdiction
AIDSLEX is owned and controlled by the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network from its offices within the Province of Ontario, Canada. By accessing or using the website, you agree that all matters relating to your access to, or use of, the website and/or its content shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada, without regard to the conflict of laws principles thereof. You agree and hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal Court of Canada and/or the courts of the Province of Ontario with respect to such matters.
